At summer camp one year, I met my best friend, Marie. We were kindred spirits from the beginning. We called each other “BeeFees” because this silly nickname made us laugh and laugh when we created it. As BeeFees, we had the uncanny ability to understand each other deeply.
Our friendship, although not completely free of youthful drama, has endured throughout the years. It is a testament to unconditional love, kindness, caring, encouragement, strength, understanding, forgiving and healing. I am grateful for it all.
I feel extraordinarily lucky because I’ve had several incredible best friends at different points in my life. Yet, I have only one BeeFee!
If you have struggles in your friendships, look for the lesson, open your heart then work it out. Friendships are golden.
Do you have a favorite memory of your Beefee? Let me know!
