Every day of my life is a gift. Sometimes the gifts are easy to see. Sometimes they are not. My blog explores and examines the gifts in everyday life. The purpose is to share my experiences with others and help others open their hearts, think and feel differently and appreciate the goodness in life. Life brings us many gifts. We just have to find and appreciate them.
I consider having an open and compassionate heart the biggest and most important gift I have in my life. An open and compassionate heart for myself and others changes how I think, feel and generally perceive the world. It allows me to accomplish many tasks in a manageable way. It enables me to accept what is and to feel happy about it.
Let me give you an example. This week, I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning. Dental procedures have always been a great challenge for me. As the hygienist was doing her work, I experienced her as rough and, at times, impatient. I could feel her frustration. Part of me wanted to ask her to stop so I could just leave. It was that unpleasant.
As my hygienist and I persisted through our appointment, I began to silently chant for forgiveness. In my mind and heart, I asked for her forgiveness and I also gave her my forgiveness. Doing so, gave me a different focus. I was concentrating on my forgiveness practice instead of the dental work. It helped me tolerate the procedure better. It helped me see my hygienist with compassionate eyes – as someone who was doing her best to take good care of my teeth!
My forgiveness practice was very healing. It calmed me down. It transformed blockages. It brought me inner peace and inner joy. On a deep level, forgiveness set me free of my struggle.
I encourage you to experience the power and transformation of forgiveness, now. Try asking for and offering forgiveness the next time you are in an uncomfortable situation. Forgiveness is a gift of everyday life!
Let me know how it works for you!
With love, peace and harmony,
Carrie
